📚✨ Idioms Monday in 4th Grade ✨📚
Today we start a new section in class: Idioms Monday.
Every Monday we will learn a typical expression from English culture.
👩🏫 What is an idiom?
An idiom is a special expression in English. The words say one thing, but the meaning is different.
👉 Example in Spanish: “Estar en las nubes” doesn’t mean you are really flying—it means you are distracted.
📌 Why are idioms important?
Because native speakers use them all the time. Learning idioms makes our English sound more natural and fun.
📝 Instructions:
-
On a white piece of paper, write the idiom.
-
Write its meaning in Spanish.
-
Draw a picture of the idiom. The picture can be literal (ice breaking) or show the real meaning (people starting to talk).
-
Write one sentence using it.
📅 You have from Monday to next Monday to finish it.
✅ Example sentence:
“The teacher told a joke to break the ice on the first day of school.”
