GUÍA PRÁCTICA CLAVEL DE SEDA Y CUBO INFLABLE ORIGAMI

AQUÍ DEJO LA GUÍA POR SI ES NECESARIA Y NO RECORDAMOS

WORD OF THE WEEK

 THIS WEEK WORD IS:

ON THE OTHER HAND

Tipo: linking phrase / conector de contraste

Significado (ES): Por otro lado — introduce un punto de vista opuesto o contrastante.

What is it? 'On the other hand' is used to show the other side of an argument.

It's perfect for reports where you need to compare two ideas or give pros AND cons.

Examples: The violin can be difficult to learn at first. On the other hand, many children find it very rewarding once they start to improve.

Practising every day takes a lot of time. On the other hand, it helps you get much better very quickly.

✏️ Tip: use on the other hand when you want to show TWO sides — like "some people think… on the other hand, others believe…"

It makes your report sound really balanced and academic!

IDIOM 22

HERE IS THE IDIOM FOR THIS WEEK

  'To strike a chord'

Significado (ES): Tocar la fibra sensible; hacer que algo te resulte familiar o emotivo.

Meaning (EN): To cause someone to feel a strong emotion or remember something.

Example: "The story of the young violinist really struck a chord with me — it reminded me of my first music lesson."

DICTATION 2 UNIT 7

HERE IS THE SECOND DICTATION OF UNIT 7. PLEASE CHECK!

Something was wrong with my saxophone yesterday.

I couldn't play anything on it, so I showed it to my music teacher.

She said that everything was fine with the keys, but something was wrong with the mouthpiece.

Somebody from the music shop came to fix it.

Nobody in my class knew what the problem was.

Can everybody bring their instruments to school on Friday?

There is nothing to worry about now — my saxophone is perfect again!

Anybody can learn to play an instrument if they practise every day.

I would like to play something at the school concert in June.

I hope everybody comes to listen to us!

CURIOUS WORD OR EXPRESSION

  HOWEVER

Tipo: linking adverb / conector de contraste

Significado (ES): Sin embargo — introduce un contraste o una idea opuesta.

What is it? 'However' shows the next sentence gives a different or surprising idea. Always put a comma after 'however' at the start of a sentence.

Examples:

  • The piano is a wonderful instrument. However, it is very heavy and difficult to move!

  • Brass instruments look hard to play. However, many children learn the trumpet very quickly.

✏️  Tip: use 'however' in your conclusion to show a challenge or contrast.

IDIOM 21

IDIOM 2  –  'To blow your own trumpet'

Significado (ES): Presumir de uno mismo, alabarse en público.

Meaning (EN): To boast about your own achievements or abilities.

Example: "She always blows her own trumpet — she told everyone she got the highest mark in the test!"

DICTATION UNIT 7

In our school, everybody loves music.

Somebody in my class plays the trumpet, and it has a powerful, loud sound.

The clarinet and the flute both have a beautiful, high sound.

Nobody in our group can play the trombone, but our teacher can!

The violin is made of wood, and the flute is made of gold or silver.

Trumpets and trombones are made of brass.

Can anybody in your family play a musical instrument?

I would like to learn to play the saxophone.

How about the recorder? It is a great instrument for beginners.

Good idea! I like the sound of the recorder.

WORD OF THE WEEK

CURIOUS  WORD –  FURTHERMORE

Tipo: linking adverb / conector de ensayo

Significado (ES): Además, es más — añade una idea extra e importante.

What is it? 'Furthermore' adds an extra point that makes your argument even stronger. More formal and powerful than 'also' or 'and'.

Examples:

  • The violin is beautiful to listen to. Furthermore, it is one of the oldest instruments in the orchestra.

  • Playing an instrument is fun. Furthermore, it helps your brain to concentrate better at school.

Tip: use 'furthermore' to introduce your second or third reason in an explanatory report.

IDIOM 20

  'To face the music'

Significado (ES): Afrontar las consecuencias de algo que has hecho.

Meaning (EN): To accept responsibility for something bad you have done.

Example: "Tom broke the window during football practice. Now he has to face the music and tell the teacher."
